"Shoeless" Joe Jackson of Major League baseball's black sox scandal, 1919 Chicago White sox, was banned from playing after the 1920 season, ranked 35 on the Sporting News top baseball players of all time, won the World Series in 1917, hit .408 as a rookie in 1911, he is ineligible to make it to the Hall of Fame because of the Black sox scandal. He died on this day in 1951
