WISE GUYS BOOK ReView

I had the opportunity to read the Wise Guys book. This book teaches you how to unlock hidden wisdom from the men around you. In today's society, we are filled with a bunch of me people. It seems that most people are so busy, they are always thinking about themselves and what they need to get done. My friends and I talk about this a lot. I remember last week when a lady nearly plowed me over with a shopping cart at Lowe's. I said "I hope you don't drive your car like that, you may hurt somebody." She slipped out of some kind of daze, looked at me and apologized. She never realized I was there. I think all of us do this type of thing sometimes.

As men (especially Christian men) we can't afford to be like this. We have to be aware of the world around us. This book teaches us to learn from other men (around us) how we should live our Christian lives. We all have friends in the church. I look up to many of them and I actually do try to learn from them. I'm always praying to God to give me more wisdom and I have to realize that a lot of this wisdom is already around me.

The book is a quick read, with a lot of examples about how to seek wisdom and use it in your life. If all Christian men would do this, we could all be walking down that same road, following Jesus and doing what He wants us to do with our lives. I'm also learning that each of us have to slow down if we really want to becoming wiser men. If we become too busy, there is not time to learn from others.

Bearing Witness Book Review and Giveaway 6/1/2016

I had the opportunity to review the book Bearing Witness. The fun part was I brought the book with me during my daughter's fourth grade field trip to Mote Aquarium. Mote Aquarium is about an hour away from the school, so I had two hours to read it. My children go to St. Stephen Catholic school and my daughter's class is very noisy. While I read the book, I listened to the noise of children and thought about what my children could go through in the future in regards to their faith in God. The book was interesting, inspiring and in many ways sad. It is amazing how many people (throughout history) have a hate for Christians. The book also made me think about my personal faith in God and if I would be able to be faithful under the same circumstances as the people in the book. Many Christians have been murdered and persecuted for their faith in God. The field trip was fun, I survived and even learned a few things at the Mote Aquarium.

ESV FAMILY DEVOTIONAL BIBLE Review and Giveaway 5/24/2016

I had the opportunity to review the ESV Famil Devotional Bible with my family. I tried to read the Bible whenever I can, but my kids are at that age. My daughter is nine and my son is twelve, church bores them. It's just the truth. I love all of the stories in this Bible. You read stories about the Bible and there are questions you can ask the entire family. My kids are more interested in stories than sitting in a church service. Part of it is they go to a private religious school and spend a lot of time studying things about the Bible. What I loved is the discussions we have after we read the Stories about the Bible. Tonight, we talked about the Bible as we took a walk, it was really cool.

Odd Doctor Questions-Why Does The Overweight Nurse Tell Me To Go On A Low Fat Diet?

I've had these questions twirling around in my mind for years. I think it's about time somebody out there in the cyber world answered them. Today, I have a couple of questions about the medical industry that just drive me crazy. The first one is why does the overweight nurse tell me to go on a low fat diet?

I remember going to the doctor one time. I saw this nurse eating lunch. A large cheeseburger with bacon and a plate filled with fries. This nurse was about five foot four and weighed about 300 pounds. This was the same nurse that told me I needed to go on a low fat diet. I am five foot eleven and 196 pounds. I know lot fat diets are not just weight related.

I just have that question. Why are their no rules in the medical community that say you have to take care of yourself if you are a doctor or a nurse? Doesn't it make it harder to tell your patients to follow a certain diet, when you are not following a good diet yourself? it's kind of like me telling you not to blow through the stop sign and speeding through the same sign myself.

Odd Doctor Questions Why Do I Need To Lose Five Pounds?

I've had these questions twirling around in my mind for years. I think it's about time somebody out there in the cyber world answered them. Today, I have a couple of questions about the medical industry that just drive me crazy. The first one is why does the doctor tell me to lose five pounds.

The question seems simple at first, until you delve further into it. I will go to the doctor and the nurse always weighs you fully clothed, with your shoes on and your pockets filled. I figure it is all worth about 4 to 5 pounds. I mean, have you seen my wallet lately. Twenty credit cards and a bunch of other stuff I thought (for some reason) needed to be shoved into my wallet. I have my phone, my keys, and a littering of other things filling the pockets of my shorts.

They check all of your numbers and the Doctor finally comes into the room. Most of the time, he tells me that my numbers are good, but I could stand to lose about five pounds. He says my weight is about 200 pounds. The problem, my weight is about 195 or 196 at home. At home, I weigh myself with just my shorts on. So the question is why do they weigh us with our clothes on and why do they count that extra 4 or 5 pounds against you?

And yes, I've asked the question after they weigh me. I am like, i'm 196 at home without all of these clothes on. The nurse either smiles at me or gives me a dirty look. They hardly ever change the weight to what is actually is. This doesn't make any sense to me.
