Colorado is the 38th state in the United States of America; Colorado became a state in 1876. Colorado is a state that encompassed most of the Southern Rocky Mountains and it was named after the Colorado river. The Colorado river was named by the Spanish as the Rio Colorado. Colorado is one of only three states which have no natural borders; the other two are Utah and Wyoming. Colorado is known for its beautiful mountains, plains, mesas, canyons, plateaus, rivers and skiing. These are fifteen of the most famous people who are from Colorado.


Tim Allen (1953 - ) Tim Allen was born in Denver, Colorado and he is an actor who is famous for Home Improvement. His films include The Santa Clause (1994) and the voice of Buzz Light-year in Toy Story.
Carole "Kelly" Bishop (1944 - ) Carole Bishop was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Is an American actress, who may be best known for her role as matriarch Emily Gilmore on the series Gilmore Girls, or for her role as Baby's mother in the film Dirty Dancing. She also played Sheila in a Chorus Line.
Lon Chaney (1883 - 1930) Lon Chaney was born in Colorado Spring, Colorado and is an Actor made famous for his "thousand faces," starred in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera and his groundbreaking artistry with film makeup.
Ken Curtis (1916 - 1991) Ken Curtis was born in Lamar, Colorado and Was an American singer and actor best known for his role as Festus Haggen on the long-running CBS-TV Western drama, Gunsmoke.

Roy Halladay- (1977- ) Roy Halladay is All-Star pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He has a record of 169-86, has won the Cy Young Award in both the NL and Al, pitched a perfect game and has a post season No-hitter on October 6, 2010.
Adolf Coors- (1847-1929) - Adolf Coors was not born in Colorado, but was a huge part of Colorado. In 1873, Adolf Coors started Adolf Coors Company in Golden, Colorado which became Coors brewing company, which merged with Molson in 2005 and became Molson Coors Brewing Company.
Goose Gossage- (1951) - Goose Gossage was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is a former pitcher in MLB. Goose Gossage played MLB from 1972-1994 for many MLB teams. He was a right-handed relief pitcher who excelled in the Major Leagues. He was the AL Rolaids Relief Pitcher in 1978, was an All-Star nine times and won the 1978 World Series with the New York Yankees. Goose Gossage was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
Bobby Unser- (1934) - Bobby Unser was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and he is one of seven drivers to win the Indy 500 three times. He was the IROC Champion in 1975. Bobby Unser is also the brother of Al Unser who was also a champion racer. Bobby Unser was inducted into the International Motorsport Hall of Fame in 1990, National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1997 and Motorsport Hall of Fame of America in 1994.
Douglas Fairbanks (1883 - 1939) was born in Denver, Colorado and was a famous Actor and founder of United Artists with Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin. He was also a founding member of The Motion Picture Academy; he was the "King of Hollywood" before Clark Gable.
Ruth Handler (1916 - 2002) was born in Denver, Colorado and she was an American businesswoman, born to Jewish-Polish immigrants Jacob and Ida Moskowicz, the president of the toy manufacturer Mattel Inc., and is remembered primarily for her role in marketing the Barbie doll.
Baby Marie Osborne (1911 -2010) was born in Denver, Colorado as Helen Alice Myres in Denver, Colorado, Osborne made her film debut at age three in 1914's Kidnapped in New York. Signed to a lucrative contract with Balboa Films, by age five she was starring in films, including her most famous movie, 1916's Little Mary Sunshine, one of her few films that survive to this day. Baby Marie Osborne was the first Major Child star of silent movies; she passed away last year at the age of 99

John Kerry was the Democratic Presidential nominee in 2004, but lost the Presidency to George Bush. John Kerry was the 66th lieutenant governor of Massachusetts and fought in the Vietnam War earning a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. John Kerry is currently married to multi-millionaire Teresa Simoes Ferreira Heinz.
Jack Swigert (1931-1982) - Jack Swigert is one of only 24 people who have flown to the moon. Jack Swigert served in the Air Force from 1953-1956 and he was accepted into the NASA Apollo program in 1966. Jack Swigert was a Republican and was voted into the US Congress, but he died from bone cancer before he was sworn in.
Ken Kesey (1935-2001) - Ken Kesey was born in La Junta, Colorado and was an American author. He is famous for writing the novel "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" He was an interesting character who considered himself to be between a Beatnik and a Hippie.
