Walgreens Prescription Savings Club

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

For the past year Walgreens has negotiated with Express Scripts for a new contract to continue as part of their pharmacy provider network. The negotiations were unsuccessful and the contract ended on December 31, 2011. Many people are affected by this move. They are being forced to go elsewhere to use their in-network pharmacy benefits. Many Express Scrips customers are having to drive further distances and do business with pharmacies that do not fit their lifestyles or schedules. Walgreens believes this move is unnecessary. Walgreens and Express Script  press release.

To make matters worse, Express Scripts has put military customers in the middle.  Tricare is one of the Express Scripts customers affected by this situation. I know a bunch of military people and retired military people. They have enough to deal with and this is an extra one thrown their way by Express Scripts. How does this affect you? Many Express Scripts customers have used Walgreens pharmacists for years and have developed a close relationship with the pharmacist. Walgreens realizes this move by Express Scripts affects you and your family, so they have come up with an idea and a program to minimize the problem.

Walgreens has their own Walgreens Prescription Savings Club . This club usually costs twenty dollars per individual and thirty five dollars per family, but Walgreens is offering a discount to everybody who has been affected by the Express Scripts problem. You can buy the prescription savings club for five dollars a year per individual or ten dollars a year per family. This prescription savings plan will allow you to receive savings on 8000 prescription drugs and has 400 generic drugs on a three month plan for about one dollar a week. This program could keep you going to the Walgreens pharmacy and it can also save you a ton of money. Other benefits of this program are discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies.

Express Scripts is an insurance broker. They are a middle man in the prescription drug business. They make a ton of money and they want Express Script customers to use their own mail order pharmacy. This way they can make more money off your prescriptions. This whole problem is about corporate greed. Express Scripts wants a bigger piece of the pie. Read all the information yourself by going to this press release below. It would also be nice if you supported Walgreens by liking Walgreens on Facebook and adding Walgreens on Twitter
