Foods You Should Not Eat If You Are Prone To Kidney Stones

I have had kidney stones and thought this information would be helpful. Besides staying away from these foods, make sure you drink plenty of water each and every day.

Below is a list of foods that are very high in calcium oxalate, it will help you in recognizing the foods that should be strictly limited:

Cereals and Cereal Products:

Soy crackers
Bran flakes
High fiber cereals
Wheat germ
Buckwheat



Fruits:

Rhubarb
Lemon and lime peel
Black raspberries
Strawberries, strawberry preserves, and jams
Gooseberries
Elderberries
Figs



Vegetables:

Beetroot
Swiss chard
Collards
Leeks
Okra
Raw parsley
Sweet potatoes
Spinach
Summer squash
Watercress
Turnips
Green peppers
Rutabaga
Poke weed
Escarole
Dandelion greens



Nuts:

Pecans
Roasted peanuts
Peanut butter
Pistachios



Beans:

Baked beans
Soy beans and soy products
Kidney beans
Lentils
Dried beans



Beverages: (usually dark beverages brewed with beans)

Chocolate
Chocolate drinks
Cocoa powder
Instant coffee
Coffee
Tea
Colas
Draft beer


Miscellaneous:

Black pepper
