Famous People Who Died On December 28

Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn't matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

1895- World's 1st movie theater opens in Paris
1908- Earthquake strikes Messina, Italy (nearly 80,000 died)
1945- Congress officially recognizes "Pledge of Allegiance"
Deaths
1662-1694 -Mary II, Queen of England, dies after 5 years of rule at 32, her mother and father were Roman Catholics, but she was Protestant, she was unable to have children
1808-1872 -James Van Ness was the Mayor of San Francisco (1855-1856), was the son of Dutch/American Vermont governor and the father-in-law of future San Francisco Mayor Frank McCoppin, he was not the most competent mayor
1833-1897 -Rev. William Corby was an American Catholic priest, best known for giving General Absolution to the Irish Brigade on the second day of The Battle of Gettysburg; this was dramatized in the movie Gettysburg, served as President of University of Notre Dame
1892-1917 -Alfred Edwin McKay was a Canadian World War One flying ace, he had ten victories, and he was shot down over Belgium on December 28, 1917
1910-1949 -Jack Lovelock, New Zealand athlete who won Olympic Gold in 1936 in the 1500 Meters, he became dizzy, fell on railroad tracks and was run over by an oncoming train
1944-1983 -Dennis Wilson was the drummer/singer for The Beach Boys, he was also a founding member of The Beach Boys, in 1968 he became fascinated in Charles Manson, the Charles Manson family lived with Dennis Wilson for a time at his expense, he moved out of the house when he found out the craziness of Charles Manson, he had trouble with alcoholism, drowned after drinking and trying to recover items he lost off his boat. Dennis Wilson was 39 at the time of his death.
1892-1983 -William Demarest was a character actor who played on My Three Sons and various other roles; he played Uncle Charlie on My Three sons
1929-1988 -Hal Ashby was an Academy Award winning director, he wonAcademy Awards for Shampoo, Bound For Glory, Coming Home and Being There, and he died from cancer on December 27 /28 at his home
1952-1991 -Cassandra Harris, actress (For Your Eyes Only), was married to Pierce Brosnan from 1977 until her death from Cancer in 1991, she died from Ovarian Cancer
1981-2009 -James Owen "The Rev" Sullivan, American musician drummer of Avenged Sevenfold, he was also the lead singer for Pinky Smooth, he was found dead at his home. Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Valium and a metabolite Diazepam and alcohol were found in his system
