Famous People Who Died On December 13

Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn't matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

1636 - The Massachusetts Bay Colony organizes three militia regiments to defend the colony against the Pequot Indians. This organization is recognized today as the founding of the United States National Guard.

1760- 1835- John Storm was an American Revolutionary soldier; he was a dragoon in the revolutionary war, regiment of Continental Ragoons
1813- 1862- Conrad Feger Jackson was a US Union Brigadier-General, dies in Battle of Fredericksville during the American Civil War
1814-1862 - Maxcy Gregg was a US Confederate Brigadier-General, dies in battle of Fredericksville during the American Civil War
1862 - Thomas Reade Rootes Cobb was a Confederate Brigadier-General, dies in battle of Fredericksville during the American Civil War
1854- 1934 - Thomas A. Watson was the American assistant to Alexander Graham Bell during the invention of the telephone
1879- 1954 - John Raymond Hubbell was an American writer, noted for his song "Poor Butterfly"
1860- 1961 - Grandma Moses was a famous US painter, dies at 101 years of age, renowned American fold artist, Life magazine celebrated her 100th birthday by featuring her on the cover of their magazine, actually has her own U.S. stamp.
1886- 1969- Raymond A Spruance was a US admiral who commanded the U.S. forces during the Battle of Midway and Battle of the Philippine sea, later became the Ambassador to the Philippines.
1899-1992 - Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney was an American businessman, heir and film producer, was also an owner of a leading stable of thoroughbred racehorses
1944- 2002 - Zal Yanovsky was a Canadian musician, he played lead guitar for The Lovin' Spoonful, a rock band he founded with John Sebastian in 1964
1953-2005 - Stanley Tookie Williams, co-founder of the Crips (a notorious American street gang) and convicted murderer, he became an author in prison and was executed.
