Famous People Who Died On January 9

Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn't matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened on January 9th in History?
1349- 700 Jews of Basel Switzerland are burned alive in their houses
1431- Judges' investigations for the trial of Joan of Arc begin in Rouen, France, the seat of the English occupation government.
1941- 6,000 Jews exterminated in pogrom in Bucharest Romania
1945- US soldiers led by General Douglas MacArthur invade the Philippines
1989 - Johnny Bench & Carl Yastrzemski elected to MLB Baseball Hall of Fame

1723-1805 -Noble Wimberly Jones was an American Continental Congressman and physician from Savannah, Georgia
1798-1858 -Anson Jones was the 5th and last President of Texas, Anson Jones was a doctor, businessman and Congressman, he was a Mason, Sam Houston was chosen over Anson Jones to represent Texas in Washington, Anson Jones became very bitter and shot himself dead
1808-1873 - Emperor Napoleon III was the President of the French second Republic; he rebuilt Paris and the French railway system
1817-1893 -Mohara, Arab ivory/slave trader, dies in battle & is eaten
1915-1977 -Hal Sawyer was a TV host (Sawyer Views Hollywood), dies at 62
1898-1979 -Sara Carter was a vocalist/guitarist for the Carter Family, first commercial rural country music group, Sara Carter was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame with the Carter Family in 1970, she appeared on a postage stamp in 1993
1918-1998 -Kenichi Fukui won the Japanese Nobel Prize for Chemistry for investigation into the mechanisms of chemical reactions
1935-2003 -Will McDonough was a famous American sports journalist for the Boston Globe; he called Roger Clemens the Texas Con Man
1950-2008 -William Quinn was an Irish Republican Army soldier
1925-2010 - Vimcy, Sports writer who was considered the pioneer of Sports Journalism in Kerala, Vimcy wrote a lot about football (soccer), he was Indian
