1553-1572 -Hirate Hirohide, Japanese samurai who fought to the end in battle, he put up a valiant fight, but was eventually killed.
1675-1751 -Paul Dudley was the Attorney-General of Massachusetts; he was the son of Joseph Dudley and the grandson of Thomas Dudley who was the 2ndgovernor of Massachusetts.
1836-1906 -Joseph Wheeler II was a Confederate General, he was a confederate general, a general in the Spanish/American war and a general during the Philippine/American war and he also served multiple terms as United States Representative from the state of Alabama
1899-1947-Al Capone was a famous Chicago gangster, dies of syphilis at 48, his Capone group smuggled bootlegged liquor during Prohibition and the group was into prostitution, Al Capone was involved with the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, he was imprisoned in Alcatraz
1896-1981 -Adele Marie Astaire was the sister of Fred Astaire; she was a dancer/entertainer
1922-1990 -Ava Gardner was a famous actress (Barefoot Contessa), dies of pneumonia at 67, she was married to Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner was ranked 25th among the American Film Institute's Greatest Female Stars
1904-1997 -Jean Dixon was a psychic (Gift of Prophecy), dies of a heart attack at 79, she was one of the best know American Astrologers who had her own Syndicated Newspaper astrology column
1889-1999 -Sarah "Sadie" Delany was an American author/civil rights pioneer, became famous for publishing her book at the age of 103 "Having our Say" which was a New York Times Best Selling Oral History, Sarah lived to be 109, her sister Bessie died at the age of 104
1916-1999 -Robert Shaw was an American conductor
1941-2010 -Ali Hasan al-Majid aka Chemical Ali, Iraqi defense minister and military commander who was also governor of Kuwait during the Gulf War
