Best Puppy Products for Keeping Them Healthy and Happy

Owning a new puppy is a wonderful experience; one that should not be taken lightly. There are far too many times that a person spots a cute puppy and forgets that they are essentially like a baby. Puppies rely on their owners to take care of them, keep them safe and healthy, and to love them. For those that take the responsibility of owning a new puppy seriously, it is good to know that there are many wonderful puppy products available to help with the job.

Food and Treats

The first thing is to find the right food for your new best friend. Puppies have a very specific diet because they are so new to the world, and their internal systems are just starting to work. Many dog food companies offer special puppy formulas to help with this. They are usually full of essential vitamins to assist in development and higher calorie content. Puppies grow very quickly and tons of energy. The higher calories help with both of these concerns.

Safety

The very same day you get your new puppy, be sure to get a collar and a leash. Puppies have not had the opportunity to learn not to run into the road or not to sprint out the front door. A leash and a collar with help you to teach them these important life lessons. Make sure the collar fits snuggly enough that they cannot slip out but is loose enough that it is not uncomfortable. The rule of thumb is that you should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your puppy’s neck. New puppies also need a crate and containment device. This not only helps with house training and monitoring, but it also gives your puppy a place that is their own. Make sure the crate is well constructed and comfy. Include a dog bed that is made with sturdy material that is difficult to chew through.

Toys

One of the best aspects of owning a new puppy and playing with them and helping them develop. New toys are wonderful puppy products to help with this. Dog toys come in an array of categories. Some help with teething, which every puppy goes through, and others help with brain development. Be sure to get several different toys for your puppy to keep them active. Cycle through them and wash them regularly. One of the most important things to remember when choosing a new toy for your puppy is to be mindful of the material it is made of. The cotton stuffing on some can be very dangerous if your puppy like to swallow things they shouldn’t, as well as the string in rope toys.
