Review Of Bucket List Bars: Historic Saloons, Pubs, And Dives Of America
I was sent a copy of the book Bucket List Bars: Historic Saloons, Pubs, And Dives Of America. The book was written by Dr. Clint Lanier & Derek Hembree. I had no idea what to expect from the book, but I was pleasantly surprises. When you think of bars, pubs and dives, you think of drinking. I am not a huge drinker, but I do like a beer now and then and I there are an assortment of mixed drinks I enjoy. When I began to read this book, I was immediately hooked. I received a promotional copy of the book in exchange for my honest review of this book.
Yes, the book was about Saloon, Pubs and Dives of America. These are those places you want to visit before you leave this earth. Why? All of these places are filled with interesting history. I am a history buff. I can't get enough. When I learned these bars were a huge part of American History, I had to read each and every word. The City Tavern in my hometown Philadelphia. Learning that people like Paul Revere, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington drank in this tavern. I can't wait to take a trip there and have a drink myself. The Warren Tavern in Massachusetts was also the favorite watering hole of Paul Revere and George Washington liked to drink there. These are some of my most favorite historical people. I would have liked to have met all of them.
The book is filled with stories like this. It makes you feel like taking a long vacation to visit as many of these places as you can. It's important to know that this book deals with New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Denver, Tuscon, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco. I have been to most of these places, but sadly, I have never stepped into one of these bars. If you like drinking, vacationing and history, this book is for you. I will bring it with me whenever I am on vacation to one of these destinations. I will also make sure I visit these bars while I am in town. I was just talking to my friend today about visiting Chicago. He is from Chicago. While we are there, we have a half dozen bars to visit. I love this book.
