Walter Lantz was a US cartoonist (Woody Woodpecker), best known for founding Walter Lantz Productions and creating Woody Woodpecker, he came up with the idea because a woodpecker kept pecking on the roof of the place he was staying with his wife on their honeymoon. He died on this day in 1994
