Amelia Earhart was a famous American aviator declared dead after disappearance in 1937, Amelia Earhart was the first woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross for flying solo across the Atlantic Ocean, early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment, she disappeared while flying and her body has never been found, she died on this day in 1939
