Famous People Who Died On December 26

Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn't matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened Today in History?
1776 - George Washington defeats Hessians at Trenton
1773- Expulsion of tea ships from Philadelphia
1799- George Washington is eulogized by Col Henry Lee as "1st in war, 1st in peace & 1st in hearts of his countrymen"
Deaths
1743-1784 - Seth Warner was an American revolutionary leader, fought on the side of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, was involved in many important battles.
1809-1861 - Philip St George Cocke Confederate Brigadier-General, commits suicide at 52, he commanded forces during the Battle of Blackburn's Ford and the first Battle of Bull Run before he committed suicide
1805-1866- Samuel Ryan Curtis was a Union general-major; one of the first Republican's voted into service, was an important Union army General during the Revolutionary War.
1822-1890 - Heinrich Schliemann was a German archaeologist; he was an important excavator of Troy
1851-1931 - Melvil Dewey was the inventor of the Dewey decimal classification
1884-1972 - President Harry Truman was the 33rd US President (1945-53), was President Franklin D. Roosevelt's third VP, and succeeded the Presidency when Roosevelt died in his fourth term.
1899-1973 - Harold B Lee was the US head of Mormon Church, he was their eleventh President
1894-1974 - Jack Benny was a comedian (Jack Benny Show), was one of the leading US entertainers of the 20th century
1932-1985 - Dian Fossey was a famous zoologist (Gorillas in the Mist) was made after her life, she was murdered in 1985, and the case is unsolved
1907-1988 - Glenn McCarthy was a US oil tycoon, businessman and Wildcatter, he founded the Shamrock Hotel
1961-2004 - Reggie White was a great Hall of Fame NFL player; he was called the Minister of Defense and was a real/life minister
1913-2006 - President Gerald Ford was the 38th President of the United States; he became President when Richard Nixon resigned
