Famous People Who Died on December 23

Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn't matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

1783- General George Washington resigns his military commission as Commander-in-Chief of the Army to Congress
1888- Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh cuts off his left ear
1954- The first human kidney transplant is performed by Dr. Joseph E. Murrayat Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

1507-1569 -St Philip, metropolitan of Moscow, martyred by Ivan the Terrible-some have his death on the 12th of December
1890-1939 -Anthony H G Fokker, Dutch airplane builder, the Spider, his nickname was the Flying Dutchman
1873-1946 -John A. Sampson was an American gynecologist who studied the disease of endometriotic cysts and helps doctors understand more about this disease today, the Sampson artery is named after him.
1884-1948 -Hideki Tojo was Japan PM (1941-44) & 6 Japs, hanged for war crimes at 64, some historians blame him for the attack on Pearl Harbor
1920-1961 -Kurt Meyer was a German SS officer, nicknamed panzermeyer, involved in many battles in World War II including the Battle of Normandy, was convicted of war crimes
1892-1972 -Charles Atlas, [Angelo Siciliano] was a famous body builder
1985-James Vance (20) & Raymond Belknap (18), commit suicide, sparking their families to sue rock group Judas Priest for subliminal messages
1909-2000 -Victor Borge, Danish-born comedian and pianist who was known as the Clown Prince of Denmark
1939-2009 -Robert L. Howard was a highly decorated officer of the United States Army, Medal of Honor recipient of the Vietnam War, was wounded 14 times, received 8 purple hearts and 4 Bronze Stars
1921-2010Fred Foy-The Radio Voice for the Long Ranger dies at the age of 89 on December 22nd
