If you are a major sports fan, you have likely heard of Jim Nantz. Jim Nantz is a famous Sportscaster of many sports, including The NFL, NCAA Men's Basketball and The PGA Tour. If you have watched sports, you have heard him on your television. He is an Emmy award winning commentator and has won the National Sportscaster of the year five times.
In 2009, Jim Nantz partnered with wine producer Peter Deutsch to launch a private wine label called The Calling. This wine label is named after Jim Nantz calling of The Master's Tournament, they released their first vintage in 2012. I received a bottle of this wine to try and I had a glass last night. I am not a wine expert, but the wine was good.the Pinot Noir I received was made with grapes sourced from Dutton Ranch Vineyard. The bottle of wine is a red wine, the flavor was smooth and satisfying. Like I said, I am not a wine expert, but that is what I think about this wine. My wife likes sweeter wines, but I enjoyed it very much. The Calling is delicious wine that satisfies.
Nantz's first book, Always By My Side – A Father’s Grace and a Sports Journey Unlike Any Other, was released in May 2008. Nantz tells personal stories from football, basketball, and golf, and how he has met people along the way who remind him of the virtues his father instilled in him. His father died in 2008 from Alzheimer’s disease. The book followed his father's long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Jim Nantz and Peter Deutsch are a great partnership in the wine business. Both men wanted to honor their father's through their business, making the business fit for both of them and their legacies. They wanted to develop beautifully handcrafted wine that both of their fathers would be proud of. Like I sad, the wine they sent me was delicious. You could tell a lot of pride and care were put in every bottle of their wine. This partnership is important to both men.
I am a stay at home father, who works around my wife and children's schedule. I have enjoyed all the important moments of life, not all men get to enjoy. I have the most important and rewarding job in the world. On Father's day, I receive cards from my kids and I am treated like a king. My children love their father and I am a lucky man. I'm like the Lou Gehrig of stay at home father's. Except I survived the cancer that nearly killed me last Thanksgiving morning.
I am hosting a giveaway for a signed copy of Jim Nantz’s book Always By My Side.
